WHAT TO SEE AND DO in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands in Spain, is known for its stunning white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and warn year-round climate. It is an ideal destination for lovers of nature, water sports and those looking for a quiet place to relax.
You cannot miss the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, located in the north of the island, it offers enormous sand dunes that extend along the sea.
Small Isla de Lobos, just off the coast, is perfect for a day trip. Hiking, diving, and snorkelling in its crystal-clear Waters are a treasure.
The former capital of the island, Betancuria, is known for its charming historic centre, the Church of Santa María and its Archaeological Museum.
Located in the south of the island, the Jandía beaches are famous for their golden sand and turquoise waters. And Sotavento Beach is especially popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
And finally, two small towns: El Cotillo, a picturesque fishing village with quiet and naturally beautiful beaches, and Ajuy, a small coastal town known for its sea caves of great geological value, and its black sand beach.

The Fuerteventura Carnival is perhaps less known than those of Tenerife or Gran Canaria, but it is also celebrated, and in several towns in the island, with parades, music, costumes and parties. The Pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Peña also has a great tradition.
